NRS 410V Case Study 2
Mr. P is a 76-year-old male with a history of cardiomyopathy and congestive heart failure with frequent hospitalizations to treat his symptoms. He is non-compliant with diet recommendations and medications and shows signs of depression. The approach to care that I would suggest for this patient would include medication, supplemental oxygen, and diet. Understanding the patients condition is critical as it will focus treatment in strengthening the heart. Ace inhibitors and beta blockers would work best for this patient given his condition as well as the use of Lasix to assist in the congestion symptoms the patient is experiencing at the moment (NLM, 2013). Once the patient’s condition is stabilized, then the next step in treatment which would be continued management can begin.
