Making Learning a Priority. In Week Two, you created a presentation that detailed the need for creating a new school safety plan. For this week’s assignment you will create a school flyer that promotes school safety as a key ingredient in a school environment that enables the success of all students. The purpose of the flyer is to inform and recruit stakeholders (community, staff, parents, teachers, and students) to help in the school improvement process. The flyer will identify at least three school safety issues (e.g., violence, hunger, homelessness, bullying, tardiness, absenteeism, sexual abuse, and alcohol and drug abuse) and focus on how students would be more successful in school if safety prevailed.

Content Expectations

  •  Audience: Creates a flyer appropriate for all school stakeholders (community, staff, parents, teachers, and

    students), and describes the groups of students who would benefit from a school safety plan.

  •  School Safety Issues: Presents three school safety issues on the flyer, which the school safety plan

    corrects, and describes how students will be freer to succeed once the safety issues are resolved.

  •  Time and Location: Develops the timeline for the project and describes where the collaborative

    opportunities will take place for the stakeholders on the flyer.

  •  Layout: Majority of the flyer space is filled in with the required information, an appropriate number of

    images are included, and high contrast colors are used for readability.

    Written Communication Expectations

    •  APA Formatting: Use APA formatting consistently throughout the flyer. For information regarding

    •  Syntax and Mechanics: Display meticulous comprehension and organization of syntax and mechanics,

      such as spelling and grammar. Your written work must contain no errors and be very easy to understand.

    •  Source Requirement: Use at least three scholarly sources in addition to the course textbook, to provide

      compelling evidence to support your ideas. All sources on the reference page must be used and cited correctly within the body of the assignment.
